Sometimes when attempting to replace account ownership or attributes en mass, ART will show "too many accounts" and is unable to accept the changes through the Account Ownership or Account Mass / Bulk Update menus. System Admin can review the following tutorial on how to update ownership (as well as other attributes) en mass through the Data Import menu.
In this case, it's best to update the ownership through an Account Attribute import.
Go to Accounts > Create/Update Net Accounts and use the drop down menu to find the name of the account you want to update.
Export the composition of the net account grouping by clicking on the Excel icon to the upper right of the list of accounts. See SS# 1.
SS# 1
This will open a spreadsheet with the accounts making up the net account (See SS# 2). Use this information (Keys, Acct#, Acct Name) to populate an Account Attribute import file (SS# 3). To get the Account Attribute template, go to Data > Data Import and select Account Attribute Load from the selections available using the drop down arrow for Data Import Type (see SS#4)

Things to note:
- Any change in ownership must use the new owner's login ID (an email address), not their user name.
- To reset any account attribute to a blank field, use "None" in the input field. This can be done for Risk Rating, Key Account, Zero Balance, Rec Form, Subledger Source, Policy, Nature of Account, Reconciliation Procedure, Preparer, Reviewer, Approver, Bakcup Preparer, Backup Reviewer, Backup Approver, Preparer Due Days, Reviewer Due Days, Approver Due Days.
Note that the following rules apply in the account attribute upload:
- ART cannot accept account attribute changes for accounts that are not yet created in ART. To create a new account, complete and process the GL Upload first.
- Preparer, Reviewer, Approver, Backup Preparer, Backup Reviewer, Backup Approver cannot have duplicate owners. In order to assign ownership, input the user log-in ID in those fields.
- Preparer and Reviewer field is mandatory. The remaining ownership fields are optional.
- For attributes that the SA do not wish to make changes, leave the fields blank.
- In order to RESET ownership or attribute information through this upload, SA must enter 'None' in the appropriate field to be reset to blank.
